Under GOP Plan, Top Earners Would Get Tax Cut Bigger Than Most WI Families Earn in a Year

The GOP proposal to continue the Bush tax cuts for all income levels would give the highest earners in Wisconsin enormous tax cuts compared to the tax cuts they would receive under President Obama’s plan. For people earning over $500,000 a year, the difference would be nearly $61,000 on average, according to a report from Americans for Tax Fairness. That’s more money than the typical Wisconsin household earns in a year.

Government Accountability Office Looks at Medicaid Expansion

The GAO was asked by Congress to conduct a study on state actions to expand Medicaid under the ACA, and the report was recently released. GAO examined questions pertaining to state responsibilities for implementing the Medicaid expansion, the actions undertaken by the states, as well as state views on the fiscal implications of expanding.  The 42 page report, will take time to fully digest and interpret for our Wisconsin situation, however, here are some of the major initial findings to note:

National Health Center Week: Reaching Wisconsin’s Medically Underserved

From Superior to Beloit, community health centers provide needed preventive, dental and other health services to low-income, uninsured and minority children and families in medically underserved areas of Wisconsin. In 2010, 16 Community Health Centers in Wisconsin reported serving over 265,000 patients – 25% of which were for pediatric services for kids under 12 years of age. This week, August 5th through the 11th, we celebrate National Health Center Week.

With few exceptions, sequels always pale when compared with the original.

There are usually more car chases, faster edits and the awkward repackaging of the same jokes from the original.

So as we watch the debate over who will serve as the leader of the free world, it is abundantly clear Mitt Romney and the Republicans’ latest feature can fairly be described as “Dubya II: More Bushier.”
