Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia is no stranger to Progressive States readers (Perdue made
our list of the nation's worst Governors). Now, he's dabbling in that most political of arts: corruption. The Governor just
invested $2 million and purchased land from Stanley Thomas, a major donor to the Georgia Republican Party.
Perdue previously had appointed Thomas to a state board.
The land in question is valued at far less than $2 million, but sits only six miles from Walt Disney World near where a road is soon to be built. One expert believed that with a little work and subdividing, Perdue's investment could pay off in the millions, while still leaving the Governor a large lot for his own involvement.
