National Immigration Working Group
The National Immigration Working Group is composed of state legislators from across the country committed to supporting pro-immigrant policies at the state and federal level including comprehensive immigration reform.
We believe that:
- Our communities are richer when we give new immigrants the opportunity to contribute and participate fully in our society.
- Our focus should be on raising wage standards for all workers not punishing a small subset of immigrant workers.
- No members of our community should be fearful of reporting crimes or aiding the investigations of the police.
Chair of the Working Group
Senator Angela Giron, CO
Sen. Angela Giron is a member of the Colorado State Senate. She has represented the 3rd District (Pueblo) since 2011. A former congressional aide to U.S. Senators Ken Salazar & Michael Bennet, Sen. Giron has also advocated for critical services for children, youth, and families as Vice President of Operations at Boys & Girls Club/Girls Inc. In a 27 year career, she has held a variety of positions aimed at strengthening her community through empowerment & education. In the Senate, she serves as the Chair of State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee; Vice Chair of the Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Energy; and member of the Capital Development Committee.
