The Apollo Alliance, a top-notch partnership between conservationists and workers, has a new report concerning best practices on energy alternatives in the states. The practices are all real energy solutions that create jobs while helping clean the planet. Just a few quick examples, highlighted earlier today by the Campaign for America's Future:
  • In Pennsylvania, the Apollo Alliance helped enact energy standards that led to the opening of a wind power manufacturing plant in Johnstown, PA -- creating over 1,000 jobs for the state and spurring the development of 18 new Pennsylvania wind farms.
  • In Washington state, the Apollo Alliance helped to pass an energy efficiency bill that will save tax payers $489 million over fourteen years and conserve enough electricity to power over 90,000 homes.
  • In California, with the backing of the Apollo Alliance, the California Public Utilities Commission committed $3.2 billion for solar power over the next eleven years. The initiative will install 3,000 megawatts of solar power in the state -- which is the equivalent of one million roofs -- while generating thousands of construction jobs.
There are dozens more examples from states across the country. The Alliance wants your help to contact Governors. This isn't a hard pitch. You're asking for more jobs, cleaner air, and independence from the Middle East.
