WI: Taking a Proactive Stance on Intelligent Design

Two lawmakers from Wisconsin have introduced a bill to ban public schools from teaching "intelligent design" as science. This is a great example of good messaging and good policy. By introducing the legislation in this fashion, it allows the legislators to define the debate. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, this proposal is the first of its kind in the country. The proposal would require science curriculums to describe only natural processes and follow definitions from the National Academy of Sciences.
